How he's still alive is a mystery. His dead body should be conscripted for medical research.

Both.

Phenomenal talent and one of this country’s (England’s) great modern lyricists.

Also, a victim of his own alcoholism and a society that has romanticised his drinking.

Why would I need to make that up you weird creep?

I don't need to make anything.up.

However it seems that you need to believe that somehow I have a Thai bride and follow me across the board at all hours to convince yourself of your fantasy. I can only conclude that you are one odd inadequate cunt and I can totally believe the rumour that you were happy for your mates to have a go on your mrs whilst you were in an other room.

Definitely a pissed-up twat, but also a damn fine songwriter.

I wouldn't use the word 'genius', which is over-used these days. But a fecking good writer.

He was probably the zenith of the plastic paddy. Born in Kent, short period in Ireland, raised in middle-class areas of the south-east of England from the age of six, went to a public school, came out pretending to be as working-class Irish as boiled bacon and cabbage.

He is of that generation who, for whatever reason, denied the reality of his upbringing in search of a more interesting back story/identity. That's fine - couldn't give a monkeys what people think they are, personally. I'm more concerned with what people actually are.

But boy can he write. Very talented, drunken fella!

Shame MacGowan eating an apple and getting a round of applause for doing so...

When I was 18 and in Kentish Town to see a band I saw him at the Bull and Gate. I was pissed, hobby and obnoxious and pinched his drink (poorly made g +t, at least a treble) out of his hands and downed it. He called me a cunt. Rightly so.
I kept that glass for a year or two. Maybe I picked up.some kind of life long immunity from his germs.

I am francisco vasquez garcia
I am welcome to almeria
We have sin gas and con leche
We have fiesta and feria
We have the song of the cochona
We have brandy and half corona
And leonardo and his accordione
And kalamari and macaroni
Come all you rambling boys of pleasure
And ladies of easy leisure
We must say adios! until we see
Almeria once again
There is a minstrel, there you see,
And he stoppeth one in three
He whispers in this one's ear
"will you kindly kill that doll for me"
Now he has won cochona in the bingo
All the town has watched this crazy gringo
As he pulls off the dolls head laughing
And miraldo! throws it's body in the sea
El veinticinco de agosto
Abrio sus ojos jaime fearnley
Para el bebe cinquante cincampari
Why se tendio para cerrarlos
Why costello el rey del america
Why suntuosa cait o'riordan
Nor vompere mis calliones
Los gritos fuera de las casas
